Exploring God's Beauty

WHY ME?

Hey Guys! So a few months ago I went to Jinja with a pastor that was visiting from Michigan and my family. We had an awesome time especially since I got to take a break from 6th grade. Thank you Jesus! Haha.

If you don't know what Jinja is, - which you probably don't but that's okay - to put it short, it's a town that the Nile River flows through.

So, yeah, your looking at the Nile. Sweet, huh?

It was probably one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Man, God created all of that. And, even more!!

Sometimes, you don't really know what you have until you stop and take a deep breath. Just thank him.

When you live here, staying here just gets normal. I know when people come over they're all like "WOW! You live in Africa!" and I'm just like "Yeah........" Haha.

Okay, how many people get to live in Africa? Really? When I think about it, I feel pretty special. Out of all the billions of people in this world, God chose me to live here from good 'ole Tennessee.

Why me? That question can be a grateful or regretful question. "God, why did this bad thing have to happen to me?" or "God, why did you choose to bless me?"

I have an answer to both of those questions for you. I maybe young, but I know the truth. No matter what people say, God doesn't plan destruction in your life. It's the devil.

Why would God plot destruction if He created you? Honestly? The Holy Word says that the Devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. (John 10:10). DESTROY- DESTRUCTION.

Now if you think the good "WHY ME?" the answer is simple, because He loves you. He wants good things to come into your life and bless you greatly for serving him.

I know that sometimes I catch myself thinking "I want to go home" "Nothings fair" "Everyones so mean to me" But you know what? They're all lies. Nothing but lies. Then I realize, God has given me so much that I can't help but thank him.

So now that you have read this post, I want you (the reader) to thank God for everything that he has given to you and spend more time with him. I want you to spend more time with your Creator now than ever before.

You can never be too close to God. There is more to him to learn than ever before.

Have a beautiful day!

Heart for Two Lands Blog

Hi, my name is Emma Scudder. I’m a twelve-year-old brunette living in the beautiful landscapes of Africa. I am so honored that God chose a little girl from Cookeville, Tennessee to come and live in Africa.

I’m a crafty girl, always looking for something new to do and craft. I also find new ways to create things wither it be house hold decorations or beauty remedies to keep my skin clean and clear. But, most of all, my heart is for God and helping people.

In Proverbs 19:17 it says, “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” I love that verse. I want to have a heart that reaches out to people and touches their life. I want to see people get saved and turn to God.

My family isn’t just your average family. We’re silly and fun. We cheer each other up. I have a Dad, named Brett who’s 40 (whoop, whoop); a mom, named Bobbie who’s 39 (she’s so gorgeous! ) and a brother, named Ethan, whose 9 and always playing around.

We moved to Kampala, Uganda in August 2012. As a 10-year-old girl, I was kind of confused. (Okay, maybe really confused.) I didn’t know how I was going to make friends or struggle at school. Fortunately, we were able to come for about 3 weeks in March to get a taste of what life was like.

I got to visit my school for a week, which was nice but also kind of scary. Were there going to be any kids I can connect with or are they all going to speak Luganda and talk really fast in their heavy accent? I talked to two girls who helped me.

I also met a girl at a homeschool art class who is still my friend to this day. Sydney has stuck with me through the thick and thin which is only God. I didn’t really know how important friends are until I moved here. There are those friends you just click with, you know? That’s what happened with Sydney and I. I just looked at her and I just said,  “Yep, she’s the one.”

I also made other friends along the way like Analeigh, Alanah, and Abbie. It’s good not to forget the friends you have back in your country or town because you can never have too many friends.

As for sports, I love it. I play as many sports as I can. I have played basketball, soccer, softball, and currently in a season of volleyball. I'm SO thankful God gave me an athletic body.

Uganda and Africa isn't all mud huts and teepees. (I don't even know if people think that either. Haha) I have really enjoyed my time here and can't wait for more years to come!!

God bless y'all!

~Emma

Welcome to the Heart for Two Lands Blog!

Hello! Welcome to the Heart for Two Lands Blog!

My name is Emma.

I am a missionary living with my family in the beautiful country of Uganda. I have been in Uganda for about 3 years. I absolutely love it.

"I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen: not only because I can see it, but because by it I can see everything else." -C.S Lewis

I love this quote. Not only because it relates to Jesus and his love for us, but because it's true. I believe that God has a calling on each and everyone of our lives. Something that we must do. I want to fulfill that calling on my life and right now, it's to be on the mission field.

I want to be a missionary that is well known for their work. Not that I discovered something like that, but I brought more Christianity into the hearts of the people.

I will try to post every week. But, you know how some people are busy and things like that. I want to keep my promise true.

My family has a website that gives more information about us if you would like to check that out. Also, sign up for our newsletter on the site there as well.

I pray that each and every one of you are blessed. Jesus loves you more than you could EVER imagine. You are never alone.

Stay tuned for my next post!
